Kindergarten - Mrs. Rice

WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN, 2025/2026.
My name is Cheryl Rice and I will be your child's teacher this year. 
This will be my second year at Holy Family, and my hope is that it is filled with friendship, fun, and learning! 

Please see below for a few essentials for the first day and week .

     Please remember to pack water bottles, a morning snack and an afternoon snack.  

     Please make sure all dismissal information is provided prior to, or by the first day of school. 
     Mrs. McNerney and I will need the names of persons picking up in the car line, and bus numbers             please. 

    Allergies: Please make sure medical/allergy information is provided to our school nurse.

    Please send in extra clothing with your child on the first day. Accidents and spills happen, so extra             underwear and socks will be great to have on the first day. I will keep the extra clothing in the                     backpack for whenever it may be needed. Thank you! Also, please see the supply list prior to     purchasing back to school supplies.

    Also, if you have an important question or information to share during teaching hours, please contact the main office as well as myself. I am not always able to check emails in a timely manner when I am teaching. Thank you.

Please consider volunteering for home room parent, helping as a lunch monitor, making play doh for the class, filed trip chaperone, etc. I will have sign up sheets at the open house and back to school night if you are interested.

I have previously worked as a kindergarten, pre-k, and substitute teacher at schools in Chester County since 2010.

Education and background:

I was born in Wales in the U.K. where I trained as a registered nurse. I also have a bachelor's degree from Rider University in New Jersey, a teacher certification from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania, and a master degree in early childhood education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. I am currently pursuing a certification as a reading specialist.

Educational philosophy: 

Children are naturally curious, and I believe that kindergarteners should have the opportunity to learn through all of their senses. I like to provide opportunities for hands on learning in every subject, while encouraging children to make connections with the world around them. I also believe that reading to, or with, a child every day is essential for language skills development as well as creating wonderful memories for you and your child.
