Just a few important notes:
Please make sure that dismissal information is provided by the first day of school, (car line, bus, CARES, bus# etc.).
Arrival Procedure:
Car riders: Car-riders will be dropped off on Third Ave. at the cafeteria entrance, where a teacher/crossing guard will guide the children to the cafeteria. In the cafeteria, they will sit with their class, and will be monitored by two teachers, until I come down to get them and lead them to the classroom. For the first week or two, I will be in the cafeteria with them, just to help with any transitions! The doors to the cafeteria open at 7:45am, and close at 8:10am. If you arrive at the school after 8:10am, you will need to walk your child to the front office to sign him/her in as "late", and a late pass will be given to your child.
Bus riders: The students will exit the bus, and will be escorted to the cafeteria, to sit with their classmates until I lead them to the classroom.
Morning Cares: The students will be escorted from the cafeteria to our classroom by Mrs. Nemceff or teacher aide.
Dismissal Procedure:
Car riders: Students will be dismissed from primary hallway doors and escorted by the teacher on duty to the small parking lot adjacent to the school, where you will be waiting. The crossing guard will then cross you to the big parking lot across the street.
Bus riders: A teacher will escort your child to the appropriate bus. Please meet your child at the bus stop.
Afternoon Cares: Your child will be picked up from the
classroom by Mrs. Nemceff or will be escorted by a teacher
to the cafeteria.
SNACKS: It is a long day for the students, and a snack and short socialization break is very conducive to learning. Please send in two snacks for your child each day, in addition to a packed lunch, if he/she is not buying. Some parents find it helpful to label the snacks, "Morning" and "Afternoon".
LUNCH:
Children can either buy a school lunch or bring one from home! Lunch Menus are on the school website, and can be printed and sent in to school. Please note that menus turned in after the deadline cannot be accepted.
Dress Code:
Please follow the dress code as outlined in the HFS handbook. However, the boys do not have to wear belts...they can be really tricky when the need to use the restroom is urgent! I also recommend keeping a bag of extra clothes (shorts/sweatpants, t-shirt, socks, and underwear) in case of accidents or spills. The bag will be kept in the backpack, as we are running low on storage options!
